Sadly, Pat Vizard passed away suddenly but peacefully
in November of 2002. This site, however, shall remain as a
testimonial of just one of her extraordinary achievements as an
artist, sportswoman, and parent. Thanks, Pat, for bringing us all
joy.

 Thanks
for visiting my website! I live in Carrickfergus, an historic
coastal town in Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland. I hand-embroider
pictures of my own design with one strand of Anchor or DMC cotton
and metallic thread onto Irish linen Embroidery has been a family tradition for at least 3
generations. My grandfather embroidered pictures of the sailing
ships in which he served when on long voyages. I hope you enjoy the
pictures as much as I enjoy embroidering them.
The
pictures are mainly of birds, with appropriate backgrounds, and aim
to be a close representative of the subjects chosen. Each one
is unique - even if the design is embroidered again it cannot be
identical. Favorites among the pictures
are: For Americans; hummingbirds, blue jays and Eastern
bluebirds and cardinals. Popular
European birds are: robins, thrushes (especially with a background
of autumn leaves) kingfishers, blue tits, wrens and kestrels.
New European designs this year include:
goldfinches, with teasels or thistles background, bullfinches, coal
tits, and fieldfares.
Exotic birds
include: Count Raggi's bird of paradise (male) displaying
outstretched tail; Fairy bluebird (South East Asia); Fairy wren with
kangaroo paw flowers (Australia), and ring-necked
pheasant.
